Release Fact #01: Salvation Within Death

Release Facts is a series of funny stories / anecdotes about some of my released material that I posted on my socials through the years. This one is about Salvation Within Death, released on Symp.tom 10.

I came up with the first ideas of this track when I was lurking around on the producer forum at Partyflock.nl, somewhere in 2007. Some guys started a topic about who could make the most brutal hardcore kickdrums and were being all macho about their results. I listened to some fragments that were posted and to be honest I wasn’t really impressed. I figured I could do that better, so I went to work for a few days until I managed to create some results that were satisfying enough for me.

Combined with a pretty pissed-off mood during that time, I think it turned out to be pretty nice in the end. And yes, being a jerk sometimes motivates me. πŸ˜‰

Annoucement Regarding DJ-Bookings

Now that my Defqon.1 performance has been made public, I also have another announcement to make:

As most of you know, last year I decided to take a break from DJ-ing. I needed this time off to re-evaluate certain priorities & goals in life, as I have changed a lot over the course of the years. I’ve been pondering things like: Who am I really? What do I really want in life? Do I do certain things because I genuine like it / because others want me to / because I need to prove myself? etc etc. A kind of “sabbatical”, if you will.

One of the things I’ve found out was that I *did* miss to play on music events. I love the scene, the people involved, the energy, the rush of seeing an audience going nuts on my own music. But too much and too many times a year has proven to be an overkill for me.

So I have made a decision for as long as I see fit:
I will now officially be playing on music events & festivals again.. But my DJ-sets will be more exclusively from now on. This means I will only be playing around 3-4 times a year, on events that really interest me.
